Design Evaluation Criteria
My research and ideating process culminated in the following set quantifiable design evaluation criteria.
- Size: My teapot must have filling capacity for exactly one cup of tea, i.e. ca. 150ml-200ml depending on the design of the corresponding tea cup that would be sold in the tea ware set in conjunction with the pot.
- Heat Retention: My teapot must keep the tea at an adequate brewing temperature for at least 5 mins.
- Taste-Neutrality: My teapot must not absorb flavours and hence can be used with all kinds of tea.
- Non-Drip: The teapot must not drip when pouring tea.
- Strainer: My teapot must prevent the loose tea leaves to drop into the cup, when pouring. However, the holes of the build-in strainer must not get stuck with the tea leaves.
- Easy to clean: The shape of my teapot must allow it to become perfectly clean in on wash in the dishwasher.
- Prize: The price of the teapot should reflect the idea that the teapot is supposed to be made for the average person, helping them to incorporate the perfect tea experience into their daily lives. Hence, the teapot must be relatively inexpensive thus targeting a customership beyond the small circles of die-hard tea lover who are willing to spent larger figures on tea ware.
