Schematic Designs Part 1
In order to think about my tea pot design, I produced a bunch of doodles (my sketching skills have seen better days). Given that one of the main features of my teapot is its size, namely with the same volume as the corresponding cup, I tried to sketch out the proportionality of different teapot shapes in relation to a cup.
I found it hard to imagine all of the tea pots above in the size of a tea cup. I discovered that my teapot design should be inspired by tea cup design. Therefore, I liked the below round tea pot and sketched this idea further out.
Without further spending time on the drawing board, I went into CATIA and designed my first 3D prototype modelled after the design that I had envisioned above. However, when I printed said prototype, I soon realised that I should have spent more time thinking about the geometry of my teapot. The spout's end was too low, thus the teapot spills over, when fully filled. Hence, I decided to go back to the drawing board and think a bit more about the geometry of my teapot in order to avoid another such mistake.
Schematic Designs Part 2
When I added some auxiliary lines to this first sketch above, I saw that the teapot was quite imbalanced and asymmetrical which might cause some problems when handling it. Hence, I refined the drawing. I used a set square to think about the geometry of my teapot in respect to the teapots filling capacity. See the subsection on non-drip for my whole thought process.
Schematic Design Part 3
After having determined the dimensions of my teapot, I drew the following sketches to help me generate a CAD from my ideas.
